What's the growth cycle for eyelash?
Even though it may not seem like it, every hair on your body has a growth cycle. It will grow to a specific length and eventually reach its full cycle, and then fall out. There are three phases to all hair growth cycle, even eyelashes: 1. Active Growth Phase - Roughly 40% of the upper eyelashes are in active growth at any one time. This phase lasts 30 to 45 days. 2. Transitional Phase - During this phase, the eyelash stops growing and the follicle shrinks. This lasts 2 to 3 weeks. 3. Resting Phase - This phase can last over 100 days before the eyelashes fall out. Important Note: Each individual eyelash is in its own cycle so there are some lashes in each phase at all times. As a result, most days at least a few eyelashes will fall out.
Do Eyelashes Grow Back?
Yes they do, but it might take a couple of months before you see them especially if you have interrupted the natural growth cycle in some way. For example, if you pull your eyelashes out, you will be without any visible eyelashes for a while before they grow back and get to the resting phase. If you have been pulling your eyelashes out, the hair still has to finish its growth cycle. A new one will not grow in any faster, since the other hair was prematurely removed. Thus, potentially creating a less than full look for a while. When you are wearing extensions, it's important not to pull or tug at them and put your natural lashes at risk. However, do not fear. There are some excellent lash serums to help nurse your natural lash health back into shape!
How Long Will Extensions Last?
Realistically, eyelash extensions last 4 weeks, give or take a couple of weeks, falling out with the natural lash. Some will be lost within a couple of weeks as part of the natural cycle, so it is commonly required to get a refill every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain them. Understanding the growth cycle of an eyelash is helpful to know. Since it's impossible to know which natural lash hairs are in which stage of the growth cycle, you should continually expect natural shedding to occur. Eyelash extensions have become a beloved beauty secret to women of all ages over the past several years. They enhance the natural look of the eye, bringing youth and radiance to one’s appearance. Eyelash extensions are strands of synthetic hairs individually adhered with a special adhesive to one’s own lash that add length, thickness and fullness to natural eyelashes. Extensions are applied onto the eyelash itself and never come in direct contact with one’s skin.
What kind of post-care do I need to apply?
Please follow these guidelines to help keep your eyelash extensions looking beautiful. ● Be gentle with your new lashes, do not get them wet for the first 8 hours after application, refrain from touching or rubbing them. The golden rule is: look but don’t touch. ● Avoid swimming, steam rooms, saunas, or extreme heat for 48 hours after application. ● Do not use an eyelash curler on the lash extensions or try to perm or tint them. This will break the bond on the extensions and might damage your natural lashes. ● Do not use oil-based products (oil-based eye makeup, makeup remover, moisturizer, cleanser, sunscreen) on or near your lashes. Use products of non-oily, non-creamy formulas to remove eye makeup. Oil-based makeup products will dissolve the adhesive on the eyelash extensions and will cause your extensions to fall out sooner than expected. ● Avoid rubbing your eyes roughly when cleaning your face and avoid running water directly on your lashes. ● Avoid sleeping face down to prevent pressing against your eyelashes. ● Be very careful when removing makeup in the eye area. Gently go over the eye area, sweep up and away from the lash extensions. ● Using mascara on eyelash extensions is not recommended. If you must wear mascara, only use “SPECIAL MASCARA FOR EYELASH EXTENSION”, please do not use waterproof or oil-based mascara as removing this is difficult to do without damaging your natural eyelashes. ● Keep an eyelash comb handy to straighten out any loose, stray lashes. Comb them carefully and very gently only when needed. ● Do not pull on any loose extensions or you risk plucking out your natural eyelashes. Do not attempt to remove the lash extensions yourself; allow the extensions to fall off naturally or schedule an appointment to have them professionally removed. ● Maintain your lash extensions with regular touch-up appointments, please schedule in advance as availability can be limited.
What do I need to prepare prior to the appointment?
● Do not wear eye makeup. Makeup close to the eye area must be removed prior to the application process. Use a mild, oil-free cleanser. Do not use oil-based makeup removers. ● Do not apply face creams or sunblock in the eye area. The oil found in many moisturizers prevents eyelash adhesive from bonding to the natural eyelash and reduces the longevity of your eyelash extensions. ● Do not put on mascara. Removing mascara can be very time-consuming and any residual makeup will prevent proper application of the extensions. ● Do not curl your lashes before your appointment. Extensions will not adhere to crimped eyelashes. ● Please silence your phone while the extensions are being applied. Talking in the treatment room is prohibited as the lash application requires precision. Feel free to listen to your own audio or take a nap and let the lash transformation begin. ● We do not perform refill services on work that was not done at Lash Forever Eyelash Extensions – NO EXCEPTIONS. If you currently have lash extensions on, it is required to book a removal service with your new set on your first visit. This is to avoid the risk of mixing different adhesives and different materials with extensions applied at other salons.
